Sun rises on the concrete floor with a blur on reality 
Faith Is gone pain is gone hope cries sympathy
Self awareness transforms into instinctive apogee
Another day another hell on the slabs of East Hastings

Here I am you makeshift prison

with the pledge of scars

Here the lost souls hold together feeling  high and numb  
in that addiction zone swinging that pendulum 
Past life experiences show the bumpy ride roadmap 
With hardships all around and nothing but this endless trap

cold and fraught with pain 
never know when life will end here
my footprint but a stain

Angels of mercy come calling to bring relief 
but the human mutation has long ago conceived
sparks of consciousness briefly now appear 
To then retreat in the darkness that always deceives

Making time on the 416
Thought I'd leave life for a while
Back to my roots and to my start
On a farm near Riverville
Life sped up and made me see the falseties
The race to make more and shave integrity
The open fields here and natures symmetry
Make me whole oh make me whole
So glad to see my dad it's been a while
Still works the farm with a smile
Even though my mom passed ten years ago
Fresh flowers on her grave everyday
It makes me see that true love really never dies
It just transforms to something new
Pulls the dormant spirit right out of me

The stores and roads really look the same
There go Pete and Marney to tend the general store
Steve waves from the Barber Pole
while old Gus on the porch will rock the day away
This place seems far behind my gilded cage
Peace and bliss surround me everywhere

Nothing like the sunsets over open fields
The sun gently says goodnight
The million stars watching over us 
Blinking promises and hope
Even though I must go back to the city's call
I do it with some serious pause
To make sure I feel nature in every breath

And hope for my passion to renew
